Poirier vs Johnson Breakdown & Betting
Poirier looks to have settled nicely into the lightweight division with four wins now under his belt, three of those coming by way of first round TKO. In his last ten fights he has only lost to featherweight champion Conor McGregor and number five ranked featherweight contender Cub Swanson and six of his last ten have been by TKO within the first two rounds. Needless to say “The Diamond” has stopping power and likes to knock people out.
Johnson is coming off two consecutive losses by way of decision. He has notible wins over Tony Ferguson and Edson Barboza who are now both title contenders and are ranked third and fifth respectively in the lightweight division. Johnson has no problem going the distance with eight of his last ten going to the judges scorecards. He also has never been knocked out which shows just how durable he is having fought 26 professional bouts.
Poirier may be the man to knock Johnson out for the first time. I think Johnson will weather the storm for the first round but I can see Dustin getting the finish in the second.
Bet365 are giving Poirier KO/TKO/DQ round 2 @ 14/1. Go get that paper!!
